Description

Tucked away in the Florentine hills just 28km from Florence is this perfect hideaway. Descending down a winding tree-lined lane, you will be pleasantly surprised to find this rambling 15th century farmhouse, perfectly and lovingly restored and now housing a collection of five self catering apartments, with can either be rented individually or together for larger groups of family and friends. Perched majestically above 20 acres of chestnut woods and olive groves, it's a stunning location with ample outside areas and terraces in which to relax. The Anglo-American owners will do everything to ensure your stay here is a very special one.

Il Nido is a 1 bedroom apartment accommodating up to 2 people. Overlooking the chestnut woods, the apartment is located on the first floor of the building. The apartment has an open plan living and dining room with small but well equipped kitchen facilities (including hob and fridge). There is also a double bedroom and bathroom with shower facilities. Whilst the apartment is located on the first floor of the building, the whole of the ground floor is open to residents with plenty of seating to enjoy a book or play cards with friends. Outside, there is also a wonderful swimming pool with loungers arranged around the edge for lazy days in the sunshine.

This unique setting overlooking the most picturesque stretch of the Pomnio and Rufina wine route is a splendid area for nature lovers, walkers and historians alike and, for those in search of culture, the beautiful Medieval cities of Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca and Arezzo are all within easy reach.

A relaxed breakfast or dinner (on request) using freshly harvested seasonal produce from the vegetable garden can be served on the terraces during the summer months or in the characteristic dining room when temperatures drop. Enjoy an "aperitivo" in the cool of "La Limonaia" or just soak up the atmosphere of the owners' very own olive press where local olive oil, wine and other products are available.

After lazy days absorbing a good book with the inevitable glass of Chianti either in the secluded gardens or relaxing by the pool, take time out to explore the surrounding countryside, on foot or for the more adventurous on horseback or mountain bike. Discover the small stream and take a cool dip or just breathe in those wonderful scents and views, every angle offering a different aspect of this much loved corner of Tuscany.

This is very much a place to 'get away from it all.' However for those guests who require internet access at some point during their stay, the owner can provide a computer with internet key for guests to use for a small additional charge.

The owners can also organise special itineraries for those interested in wine-tasting, art courses, cookery or mind and body workshops or if you would like to celebrate a special event like an intimate wedding or special anniversary, we would be only too happy to take care of the arrangements.

Our stay was lovely. The welcome from Francesco was one of the warmest we have received...

Suzanne was extremely helpful with advice and making a booking for the Uffizi for us (which turned out to be cheaper than doing it online back home). The accommodation and grounds were spotlessly clean, and didn't differ from the pictures I had seen online before booking. The only slight problem is the track leading down... we had hired a Fiat 500 which wasn't the most suitable for the track and it was impossible not to scrape the undercarriage.... however I wouldn't want to put people off visiting here! On the whole, it suited us perfectly for a quiet retreat and we would visit again. Thanks also for your assistance with booking.
